OXO Good Grips Silicone Oven Mitt with Magnet. Maybe it’s bad luck, but I often get my mitts wet (burn risk) and even if I somehow keep them dry, they let me hold a baking sheet for only 15 seconds before I have to set it down. The new all-silicone mitts were supposed to solve these problems, but they have no flexibility. So this combination fabric and silicone mitt is genius. It’s washable, waterproof on the top half and thumb, flexible, high-heat tolerant (really!), and comes in different sizes and colors. The Petite size fits my hand without sliding around, and the little magnet lets me slap my wrist against the fridge and slide right out of it. Handy! Cons include a touch of stiffness and a somewhat short length exposing the arm, but the pros far outweigh the cons. I’m buying another one soon.

Microplane Grater/Zester. Yes, I know, everybody thinks you should have one of these. Well you should! Kick ass zesting, my friend! You thought you could zest before? Ha!

Cuisinart 1 1/2 Quart Ice Cream Maker. Great, affordable ice cream maker. Make sure that your freezer is at or below zero degrees or it (or any other frozen canister ice cream maker, for that matter) won’t work. Get a freezer thermometer if necessary. Ten below will get you almost firm ice cream in about half an hour.

Alton Brown’s Shun Classic Angled 8-Inch Chef’s Knife, by Shun. Wishlisted. I don’t have this. I want this. I want it now.
